Role overview
JOEY Restaurant Group is looking for a US Payroll Administrator to manage end-to-end payroll for about 2,000 employees. The position calls for a detail-focused professional who is accountable, proactive, and committed to delivering a smooth payroll experience. This is an in-office opportunity in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000, depending on experience and skill level.
What you will do
- Run full-cycle US payroll every two weeks, including checking data, preparing files, balancing records, and issuing payments by direct deposit or cheque.
- Create and share payroll reports that help guide business decisions and day-to-day operations.
- Handle federal and state payroll filings and remittances, including taxes and statutory payments such as SDI, SUI, and WCB.
- Answer payroll questions promptly and with a strong customer-service mindset.
- Work with external organizations and third parties to sort out payroll-related issues.
- Collaborate with Office Managers and General Managers to explain payroll processes and resolve problems.
- Contribute to projects, process enhancements, and cross-functional work within the Total Compensation team.
What you bring
- At least 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience managing full-cycle US payroll, including a solid understanding of California payroll rules.
- Background using complex HRIS and payroll platforms.
- A self-starter mentality with the ability to identify needs early, take action, and stay accountable through completion.
- Strong multitasking skills with a consistent focus on accuracy.
- Excellent attention to detail, plus analytical and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
- Sound judgement and integrity when working with confidential information.
- Good relationship-building and teamwork skills across varied groups.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.
- Clear written and spoken communication.
- Exposure to payroll certification programs from the National Payroll Institute or comparable US programs.
