About Experian
Experian is a worldwide data and technology business that helps create better opportunities for individuals and organizations. Its work spans lending, fraud prevention, healthcare, marketing, automotive insights, and other sectors, using data, analytics, and software to solve real-world problems. The company supports people in achieving financial goals while saving time and money. Experian operates in multiple markets including financial services, healthcare, automotive, agribusiness, and insurance. It is a FTSE 100 company listed on the London Stock Exchange, with around 22,500 employees across 32 countries and headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.
Role overview
Experian is hiring a mid-level User Researcher to join its Product Design team. This role sits within a small and expanding research function and will help shape the experience of users across two product areas. The position is central to building a deeper understanding of customers and enabling evidence-based product decisions.
Working as an in-house researcher inside a cross-functional product team, you will collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers throughout the product lifecycle. Research will range from early discovery to post-launch review, and you will report to the Lead User Researcher. The role also offers support to grow your practice and help define strong research standards within the company.
What you will do
- Work with design and product partners to spot research needs across the full product journey.
- Design and carry out research using methods such as usability testing, in-depth interviews, card sorting, and concept testing.
- Use both generative and evaluative approaches to uncover user needs, test ideas, and guide product strategy.
- Apply lean research methods to provide timely, practical insight that helps teams progress with confidence.
- Turn research findings into clear recommendations that shape product direction and support measurable outcomes.
- Advocate for the customer perspective across teams and show how research contributes to impact.
- Help improve the wider research practice, including operations, tooling, and ways of working across product domains.
Requirements
- Prior in-house experience embedded in a product team; agency or consultancy-only backgrounds are not sufficient.
- Practical use of AI tools to support parts of the research workflow, such as planning, synthesis, analysis, or operational tasks, while keeping research quality and judgement intact.
- Clear examples showing how your research has shaped product decisions and business outcomes.
- Strong usability testing experience, including moderated and unmoderated studies, from planning through facilitation and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with qualitative techniques such as interviews, diary studies, and card sorting.
- Experience running research from problem definition through evaluation and impact assessment.
- The ability to adapt your methods to the needs of the situation, balancing depth with speed and rigor with efficiency.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.

The benefits package includes hybrid working with 40% office attendance, a strong compensation package with discretionary bonus, and core benefits such as pension, Bupa healthcare, and a Sharesave scheme. Employees also receive 25 days of annual leave, 8 bank holidays, and 3 volunteering days, with the option to buy extra leave.
