Role overview
This part-time UX Designer opportunity is based in Sydney, New South Wales, with a hybrid setup that combines office collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. The position is suited to an entry-level designer who is eager to learn, contribute to product improvement, and build practical experience in user experience work.
What you’ll do
You will help shape clear and user-friendly digital experiences by supporting research, prototyping, interface design, and iterative refinement. The role includes working with experienced designers and stakeholders to turn ideas into usable solutions.
- Assist with user research tasks, including interviews, surveys, and basic usability studies.
- Create both low-detail and polished prototypes, wireframes, and mockups.
- Contribute to page layouts, user flows, and interface structure.
- Take part in design workshops and collaborative brainstorming sessions.
- Record user needs and design requirements in an organized way.
- Prepare and update design assets for ongoing projects.
- Refine concepts using feedback from senior team members and other stakeholders.
- Support usability testing and help summarize the findings.
- Organize research outcomes and maintain design documentation.
- Assist in keeping design systems and component libraries current.
Qualifications and skills
This role calls for someone with a basic grasp of UX methods, visual design principles, and prototyping tools, along with a collaborative mindset and attention to detail. Applicants should be comfortable learning on the job and contributing in a team-based hybrid environment.
- Ability to use design thinking and core UX principles to address user and business needs.
- Exposure to user research methods such as interviews, surveys, or usability testing, plus the ability to turn findings into useful insights.
- Working knowledge of visual design basics such as layout, typography, color, and accessible interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping software such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar tools.
- Study background in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field, completed or underway.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Careful attention to detail, receptiveness to feedback, and a learning-focused attitude.
- Basic awareness of web/mobile design conventions and accessibility standards such as WCAG is beneficial.
- A portfolio or sample work showing academic, personal, or internship-based UX projects and deliverables.
