About Everyday Independence
Everyday Independence is a growing allied health organisation with more than 40 hubs around Australia. The team works through a social model approach, aiming to expand inclusion for people living with disability. As one of the country’s largest therapy providers, the organisation offers stability, structured mentoring, supervision, ongoing learning, professional development, clear career paths, and a culture built on shared values.
What the role involves
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will support NDIS participants with practical, life-changing therapy. The work is varied and may include visits to homes, schools, playgrounds, workplaces, and community spaces. You will use assessment and intervention skills to help participants work toward their goals and make the most of their NDIS funding. A key part of the role is building trusted relationships with participants and their support networks, including family, carers, and friends.
You will also develop and put into practice Behaviour Support Plans using function-based strategies and positive behaviour support principles. The role includes conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments, working with interdisciplinary teams on complex behavioural needs, and attending weekly hub meetings. Support from a Team Leader and a dedicated Therapy Mentor is built into the role.
Who the employer is seeking
The organisation is looking for an experienced practitioner with a relevant tertiary qualification such as a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or graduate diploma, together with the applicable professional registration or membership for your discipline. Suitable backgrounds include occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work, mental health nursing, or psychology / psychological or social science-related fields.
You must also be recognised as a Behaviour Support Practitioner by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, with evidence of the approval letter. At least 12 months of experience in a Behaviour Support Practitioner role is required. The employer is seeking someone who is adaptable, communicates well, works effectively in a team, and is committed to ongoing personal and professional development. A valid Australian driver’s licence, an NDIS Workers Screening Check, and a Working With Children Check are also required.
What is offered
The role comes with streamlined PBS services designed to align with NDIS standards, along with simplified reporting through easy-to-use Behaviour Support Plan templates so more time can be spent with participants. Ongoing guidance from experienced behaviour support clinicians, a competitive salary package, and extra benefits such as vehicle options, a laptop, a phone, and performance and loyalty bonuses are included.
There is potential to earn up to $3,000 per year by meeting role expectations and up to $10,000 per year by increasing billable time. Flexible scheduling is available, giving you control over your calendar. The organisation also provides pathways into clinical mentoring, education, and operational leadership.
Additional support includes operational, clinical, and administrative assistance, a collaborative interdisciplinary environment, pet-friendly hubs, in-house career coaching, a professional development budget, wellbeing days, paid parental leave, regular social events, and access to confidential counselling through an Employee Assistance Program.
