CAD Engineer

Role overview

Larsen & Toubro is looking for a CAD Engineer to create precise drafting outputs and support design-to-construction workflows from its Mumbai location. The role focuses on producing accurate CAD drawings, layouts, 2D/3D supporting data, and documentation for engineering and site-related deliverables.

Core responsibilities

• Develop detailed CAD drawings, layouts, and 2D models from design inputs and technical specifications.
• Check that every drawing and model is complete, accurate, and aligned with project expectations.
• Provide clean base drawings and CAD data to BIM Modelers for 3D modelling and BIM work.
• Create site plans, construction drawings, and topographic drawings.
• Prepare 3D surface models using points, lines, text, contours, and related inputs, along with excavation plan drawings.
• Produce plan profiles and sample line sections for HAC RES (geo.), Lithography STL, and similar requirements.
• Generate excavation quantity outputs, including cut-and-fill tables and assembly-related documentation.
• Develop detailed drawings, tender drawings, structural drawings, fabrication drawings, and miscellaneous drawing sets.
• Build and manage XREF files and related drafting references.
• Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers and clients.
• Maintain organized records of drawings, site updates, and design modifications.
• Assist in preparing as-built drawings after construction is finished.
• Keep drawing work aligned with the Quality Management System and applicable quality/safety expectations.
• Create, maintain, and standardize CAD templates, libraries, and working standards.
• Collaborate with design engineers, BIM Modelers, and other CAD engineers to ensure consistent project outputs.
• Help define and follow SOPs for drafting work across the team.
• Update project documentation, manage version control, and maintain files in the project repository.
• Support the creation and upkeep of templates and macros that improve drafting efficiency.

Technical expectations

• Stay current with drafting tools and technologies such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and BIM-related software.
• Use updated software practices to improve drafting accuracy and productivity.
• Ensure drawings and layouts meet or exceed quality and safety standards.
• Align site plans and infrastructure drawings with engineering specifications and project requirements.

• Work closely with engineers to interpret requirements and reflect them correctly in drafts.
