Checkout Operator

Overview

This full-time Checkout Operator position is based in Dingle, County Kerry (V92 WRW0). The role is centered on keeping the checkout area running smoothly and efficiently while delivering a high standard of customer service.

Main Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will help ensure the checkout department is always operating effectively, with a strong focus on speed, accuracy, and a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out checkout duties using a computerized till system with barcode scanning.
• Weigh and label items such as fruit and vegetables.
• Verify customer ages for restricted products, including alcohol.
• Bag customer purchases carefully and efficiently.
• Handle coupons and vouchers correctly.
• Accept payments and ensure the till balances at the end of the day.
• Work away from the till when needed by replenishing shelves and monitoring stock.
• Present and merchandise the department to a consistently high standard.
• Take part in team meetings and put agreed learning into practice.
• Represent the company’s brand values of being Proud, Energetic, Imaginative, and Community-Based.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will bring retail experience, strong communication skills, good attention to detail, and the ability to stay organised and flexible in a busy environment. A calm, customer-focused approach and the confidence to use initiative while working well in a team are important.

Additional Requirements

Experience in a retail role for 2 years is preferred. The ability to balance tills is required, along with strong customer prioritisation and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.
