Role Overview
In this position, you will take ownership of construction projects from beginning to end, making sure they are delivered smoothly, professionally, and in line with company policies, quality standards, and deadlines. The role covers planning, budgeting, contracting, execution, recordkeeping, and coordination with both internal and external partners to achieve safe, sustainable, and cost-conscious outcomes.
This is a hybrid position reporting to the Construction Manager and based in one of H&M’s Sales Region locations in New York. It is a salaried, exempt role.
Key Responsibilities
Your work will span project preparation, contractor coordination, site execution, documentation, and handover.
- Build investment budgets and business cases that align with global construction processes.
- Carry out site assessments, value engineering exercises, and risk reviews to support informed decisions.
- Create detailed project schedules using input from internal stakeholders and external specialists, with the aim of shortening timelines and lowering installation, labour, and related costs.
- Work with Leasing and Legal teams to clarify contractual responsibilities and project boundaries.
- Coordinate with consultants and public authorities to obtain all necessary permits.
- Improve planning and follow-up methods continuously and exchange best practices with the team.
- Use retro-planning based on input from other departments and consultants to reduce installation, labor, and other costs.
- Support procurement in finding external partners.
- Assist with qualifying new contractors to maintain a reliable and high-quality supplier network.
- Review agreements to make sure project risks and country-specific risks are fully addressed, and attach payment and execution schedules where needed.
- Confirm that all contracts and appendices are approved and signed before work starts.
- Oversee contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Make sure contracts include relevant country-level risks and that payment schedules match legal and market standards.
- Ensure contracts are filed and signed according to approval authority and governance rules.
- Verify that stores are designed and built according to building specifications and interior standards.
- Track construction progress through site visits and project meetings, ensuring deadlines, quality, and compliance are met.
- Maintain strong health and safety standards across the project.
- Manage change orders, maintain transparency in project finances, and keep the budget aligned with approved forecasts.
- Check that invoices reflect agreed contract terms and follow up on landlord contributions.
- Keep project timelines current in LIMA (Planon) to support planning and future benchmarking.
- Maintain complete project records before, during, and after delivery in line with global guidelines.
- Raise and challenge change orders proactively while preserving financial transparency.
- Monitor repayment of landlord contributions to ensure prompt reimbursement.
- Deliver a structured and high-quality handover to Facility Management.
- Share relevant updates with other departments in a timely and organized way.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, giving and receiving feedback to uncover improvement opportunities.

Compensation
