Contract Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Contracts Engineer to strengthen a construction team in Riyadh. In this position, you will oversee contracts from start to finish, help ensure compliance, reduce commercial and contractual exposure, support business goals, and manage contract administration across several construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine, interpret, and oversee construction contracts, subcontracts, and consultancy agreements.
• Make sure all contractual duties, project requirements, and internal policies are properly followed.
• Handle contractual communication, formal notices, claims, scope changes, and dispute-related issues.
• Assist project teams in understanding contract clauses and obligations.
• Assess contractual risks and suggest actions that safeguard the company’s position.
• Draft, assess, and process contract modifications, change orders, and variation submissions.
• Work closely with commercial, legal, procurement, and project management stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
• Track project delivery against contractual commitments and flag risks or possible upside.
• Support the preparation, negotiation, and completion of agreements with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Keep contract files, records, and reporting tools accurate and up to date.
• Contribute to claim documentation, extension of time submissions, and dispute resolution efforts.
• Ensure work aligns with local laws, industry requirements, and accepted contractual practices.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline is required.
• You should have 10 to 16 years of experience in contract administration or contract management within construction or contracting.
• Strong knowledge of construction agreements, commercial management, and contract law fundamentals is needed.
• Background in large infrastructure, building, industrial, or EPC assignments is expected.
• Practical experience with claims, variations, extension of time submissions, and dispute handling is essential.
• Excellent ability in negotiation, analysis, and communication is required.
• Good working knowledge of FIDIC and other standard contract formats is important.
• You must be comfortable using Microsoft Office and contract management software.
• Ability to perform well in a busy, fast-moving, multi-project setting is necessary.
• Experience with leading contractors in Saudi Arabia is preferred.
• Professional certifications in contract management, commercial management, or a related area are beneficial.
• Familiarity with Saudi construction regulations and local industry practices is an added advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional certifications in contract management, commercial management, or related fields are considered a plus. Prior exposure to major contractors in Saudi Arabia and familiarity with Saudi construction regulations and industry practices will strengthen your profile.
