Role overview
This position sits within Group Engineering and focuses on improving how data, reporting, automation, and digital tools are used to support better decisions and stronger governance. The role uses Microsoft Power Platform technologies to strengthen continuous improvement, digital transformation, asset management, project tracking, and performance reporting across the engineering function.
The post is based in Aldridge, and after training on Biffa systems, there is an option to work remotely. The working pattern is Monday to Friday.
You will work across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, IT, and external partners to make sure systems and data support business goals and the wider engineering transformation plan.
Key duties
- Build and improve Power BI dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools that give visibility into asset performance, compliance, maintenance, projects, and operational efficiency.
- Create and support Power Apps, Power Automate flows, SharePoint-based solutions, and Microsoft Lists to simplify engineering processes and cut down on manual work.
- Maintain and optimise engineering platforms such as FleetWave, D365, telematics tools, maintenance databases, and mobile plant reporting systems.
- Produce analysis on asset use, idle time, fuel usage, maintenance patterns, lifecycle costs, and overall fleet performance.
- Support automation, systems integration, standardisation, and wider digital improvement activity across Group Engineering.
- Develop and manage tracking and governance tools for large engineering projects, asset replacement programmes, and strategic initiatives.
- Keep engineering data, asset registers, compliance records, and financial information accurate, controlled, and aligned with governance expectations.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver scalable digital solutions that improve business outcomes.
Requirements
- A full UK driving licence is required.
- Strong capability with the Microsoft Power Platform is essential.
- Hands-on experience creating Power BI dashboards and reports is needed.
- Practical experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Microsoft Lists is required.
- Background working with engineering, operational, maintenance, or asset management data is important.
- Experience in data analysis, reporting, and process improvement is expected.
- Ability to manage multiple datasets and business systems is required.
