Role overview
The Ministry of Justice’s Digital Office is seeking an experienced people leader with ITIL expertise and a DevOps background to join the Case Services team. This team is responsible for delivering and maintaining the digital services that support the day-to-day functioning of Courts, Tribunals, and the Judiciary.
This position plays a central leadership role in Case Services, with accountability for lifting operational performance and continuously improving digital service delivery. The environment is collaborative and inclusive, with a strong focus on helping people do their best work.
What you will do
- Lead and manage a team of around 10 staff members.
- Guide improvements in development practices toward continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps ways of working.
- Help put in place goals, policies, procedures, systems, and operating practices that support strong development and support frameworks.
- Create and roll out practical approaches that improve application supportability and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee configuration management, operational support, and the introduction of ITIL processes across the Case Services portfolio.
Skills and experience needed
To be successful in this role, you should bring a leadership style that is collaborative and inclusive, along with the ability to form and sustain productive working relationships. You will need experience leading teams involved in project delivery, operations support, and incident management, as well as a background in providing ongoing systems support after project completion.
Strong people leadership capability is essential, including a history of developing high-performing teams. You should also be an effective communicator who can work with varied audiences, handle complex matters, and maintain strong business relationships both within the organisation and across a wider professional network.

Salary
The salary for this position is expected to sit between NZD 128,427 and NZD 176,789, depending on skills and experience.
