Role overview
This is a 6-month contract opportunity with a client in the power sports industry for an experienced Purchasing Analyst based in Plymouth, Minnesota. The position begins as fully onsite while training and may move to a hybrid schedule later, depending on management's discretion.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you will manage Parts, Garments & Accessories (PG&A) suppliers to help ensure products arrive at distribution centers on time. You will also work closely with demand planning analysts to determine the right purchase quantities so inventory levels and service goals support customer demand.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve performance and strengthen backorder recovery.
- Analyze system-generated purchase recommendations together with demand planning analysts to improve planning accuracy.
- Approve purchase orders and monitor expedite, defer, and cancel actions to support fill-rate and inventory targets.
- Address backorder problems in line with company objectives.
- Partner with suppliers to keep system data accurate, including cost, minimum order quantity, and lead times.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and economic order quantities in the company’s favor.
- Work across departments to support broader business goals.
- Escalate urgent matters to the supervisor quickly and clearly.
- Take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Requirements and skills
The preferred background includes a bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in supply chain management, such as MRP, logistics, or inventory management. Candidates should be comfortable using intermediate Excel functions, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and conditional formatting. Success in this role also depends on strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, solid organization and communication skills, problem-solving ability, and the confidence to negotiate and resolve conflict professionally. The role also calls for independent work with limited supervision.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this contract assignment is $28.17 to $30.28.
Additional information
This position is described as a fully onsite role during the training period, with the possibility of a later hybrid arrangement at the manager’s discretion. The assignment length is 6 months.
