About the company
Relevance AI is creating a platform for an AI-powered workforce, giving teams the ability to delegate valuable work to intelligent agents that can reason, act, and work together like specialists. The product lets users build and oversee agents that manage workflows, decisions, and collaboration in one place.
The company’s platform is already used by organizations such as Canva, Databricks, Confluent, Autodesk, Lightspeed, Rakuten, Aveva, Qualified, and Activision Blizzard to improve performance across operations, marketing, and sales. Backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Insight Partners, Peak XV, and King River Capital, Relevance AI closed its Series B in April 2025 to speed up growth and expand its agentic automation capabilities. The business is based in San Francisco and Sydney and works in a hybrid setup built around curiosity, teamwork, and execution.
In 2025, the company was recognized as LinkedIn’s #1 Startup in Australia.
Role overview
This opening is for multiple Senior Software Engineers in Sydney, focused on either full-stack or back-end development. Depending on the team, the work may center on the core agent and tool-builder experience, real-time conversational systems, or enterprise platform functionality for large customers.
The position is suited to engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, creating reliable large-scale systems, and driving projects from idea to delivery in partnership with product and customer-facing teams. The environment offers a high degree of autonomy, with fast shipping, end-to-end ownership, and the chance to influence how engineering evolves as the company grows.
Key responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and run resilient back-end services that support the core platform.
- Take responsibility for important systems from early concept through release and ongoing support.
- Advance applied AI capabilities by enabling new agent behaviors, workflows, and product experiences.
- Help define engineering practices, technical standards, and architectural direction as the team expands.
- Coach and guide fellow engineers while helping raise the quality bar for delivery and ownership.
- Work closely with product, design, and leadership to ensure technical decisions support business goals.
Technology environment
The engineering stack includes React, Vue.js, and TypeScript on the front end; Express.js, Node.js, and TypeScript on the back end; PostgreSQL and MongoDB for data storage; and AWS, Vercel, Terraform, and Kubernetes for infrastructure. The team also uses AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.
Candidate profile
Ideal candidates bring at least 4 years of software engineering experience, especially in full-stack or back-end roles within fast-moving and technically complex environments. Experience with API design, including REST or GraphQL, and distributed systems is important.
You should be comfortable building large-scale, fault-tolerant systems, thriving in ambiguity, iterating quickly, and taking initiative in a high-performance startup setting. Strong ownership, problem-solving ability, and a track record of shipping impactful work are essential.
A genuine interest in artificial intelligence is expected, along with a habit of using AI tools in day-to-day work to improve productivity and innovation.
Nice-to-have experience
- Building AI-powered features using LLMs, agent workflows, or AI infrastructure.
- Creating enterprise-grade capabilities such as IAM, SSO, audit logs, compliance tooling, or observability systems.
- Developing integration platforms or third-party connector ecosystems.
- Contributing to open-source software.
Why this role stands out
This is an opportunity to work on the edge of AI innovation with a small, ambitious team that values bold ideas and rapid progress. The culture emphasizes truth-seeking, empathy, customer focus, fast iteration, and creating memorable experiences.
The company offers competitive compensation, equity, and strong growth opportunities. As an early team member, you will also help shape the company’s culture, operating style, and future benefits.
