Role Overview

Wolt is hiring a Backend Engineer for the AdTech & Promotions team. The ideal candidate is deeply backend-focused, able to work effectively without clear structure, and comfortable owning large initiatives that involve multiple teams from initial planning through delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and delivering backend solutions for large, cross-functional initiatives
• Owning work from problem framing and planning through stakeholder alignment and final release
• Building and running scalable backend systems
• Creating clarity in situations where requirements or structure are not fully defined
• Partnering with stakeholders across teams to keep goals aligned
• Using feedback effectively to improve direction and execution
• Working with AI-supported engineering practices and agent-based development tools
• Using NoSQL technologies in backend architecture where appropriate

What We’re Looking For

• Solid backend engineering experience
• Golang experience is strongly preferred
• Proven track record of leading complex projects across teams in uncertain environments
• Strong skills in planning, delivery, and stakeholder coordination
• Clear and effective communication style
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development workflows such as Codex, Claude, and agentic tools
• Exposure to NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, MongoDB, or similar systems is an advantage
