About the role

Weetabix is looking for a Specifications Technologist to join its technical team in Northamptonshire. This role focuses on creating, updating, and managing detailed product specifications for recipes and packaging across branded and own-label ranges. You will work closely with internal teams and external retailer customers to make sure specifications remain accurate, compliant, and aligned with business and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and maintain product specifications for retailer-branded products, including handling data questions through customer web portals.
  • Convert internal product information into the format required by retailer customers.
  • Coordinate and manage specification changes for both product and packaging details.
  • Keep internal specification records accurate before transferring information into systems such as D365.
  • Work with relevant teams to ensure compliance with BRC and other regulatory standards.
  • Provide guidance to Technical Managers on retailer brand specification matters.
  • Work with the Supplier Technical Manager to keep raw material specifications up to date.
  • Prepare and submit packaging data to meet waste compliance requirements.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the food and FMCG sectors, particularly in specification writing within a food development or manufacturing environment. A solid understanding of recipe building and specification development is important. Experience with retailer specification systems used by major UK supermarkets, such as Tesco, M&S, or Sainsbury's, would be an advantage.

Working pattern

This is a hybrid position with 2 to 3 days on site each week, including Weetabix Wednesday, when the whole team works from the office for collaboration and meetings. The company is flexible where possible, while still expecting on-site attendance as part of the role.

Additional information

Closing date for applications is 24 February 2026. The interview process consists of two stages. Reasonable adjustments can be made during recruitment if needed. Sponsorship is not available for this vacancy, so applicants must already have the right to work without sponsorship.

  • Competitive salary with annual flexible benefits
  • Annual bonus of 5%
  • Double-matched pension contribution up to 12% from the company
  • 25 days of annual leave, increasing with service
