Role overview

Join RAC as a Superflex Roadside Mechanic in Blackburn. This position is built for flexibility and suits someone who enjoys variety, local travel, and solving problems on the move.

Pay and working pattern

The role offers a basic salary of £50,669 per year, with the chance to earn up to £57,000 through bonuses and overtime. You will work an average of 40 hours per week across the year. Your rota will be shared seven days ahead of time, and your core hours will be confirmed three days in advance.

Shifts can run between 06:00 and 02:00, and may include early starts, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Location and travel

You will be part of the Blackburn cluster and cover nearby areas including Blackburn, Accrington, Burnley, Darwen, Bacup, Rawtenstall, Nelson, Colne, and Clitheroe. Work is organised locally so you can begin and end your day at home while focusing on roadside support in your area.

What the job involves

In this role, you will help members get back on the road by diagnosing faults and carrying out roadside repairs. Jobs may vary from electrical and technical issues to flat tyres and battery problems. You will need to stay calm under pressure, decide the right fix, manage your own equipment, keep the van stocked, and complete reports accurately.

Tools and support provided

RAC will provide a company van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic equipment from day one.

What you need

• A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification, or an equivalent credential, along with practical experience in technical, electrical, and diagnostic work
• A strong customer-first mindset
• A full UK driving licence
• Willingness to work at short notice and to travel, including occasional overnight stays if required
