This remote contract opportunity is with a company that connects highly skilled creative and technical professionals to AI research teams. The work supports the development of benchmarks used to train and evaluate advanced AI systems.

Role overview

The position focuses on automotive manufacturing and mechanical engineering expertise. You will help create realistic work environments and multi-step tasks that reflect real-world engineering processes, enabling AI agents to be tested against practical scenarios.

Key responsibilities

• Construct a lifelike digital workspace based on the Drive folders and files used in everyday engineering work, including design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA documents, PPAP packages, tolerance studies, benchmarking presentations, test reports, and email conversations.
• Develop complex tasks that mirror authentic workflows and require moving between multiple applications, documents, and stakeholders.
• Work with other automotive engineering specialists to define the environment, determine the scope of the tasks, and check that the scenarios remain realistic and demanding.
• Partner asynchronously with research teams to improve task design and the criteria used to assess automotive engineering benchmarks.
• Help advance frontier AI research by contributing scenarios and evaluation material that shape how leading labs train and measure AI systems.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
• At least 3 years of full-time experience with a Fortune 500 automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier is expected.
• Hands-on background in vehicle or subsystem design, CAE/CAD/simulation engineering, manufacturing/process engineering, or quality engineering is needed.
• Daily familiarity with tools such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, Siemens Opcenter, or SAP S/4HANA is required.
• Strong analytical reasoning and clear technical writing are essential.

Compensation and other terms

This is a contract role with pay of $1,150 to $1,450 per task. Compensation depends on the quality of the completed work. High-performing contributors may also receive a weekly bonus. There is potential for the arrangement to shift to hourly pay if quality and throughput remain strong over time.
