Visual Designer

Role overview

Tesla is looking for a Visual Designer to shape and evolve the company’s visual brand communications. In this role, you will contribute to high-end graphic design and branding work across a wide range of touchpoints, using strong design judgment and creative problem-solving.

The position is based in Los Angeles, California, and reports to the Visual Design Manager at the design studio. The team values versatility, so in addition to core visual design, you may also contribute to adjacent creative work such as photography, illustration, and similar tasks depending on your strengths.

What you will do

• Create design assets for events, communications, websites, marketing, sales, products, and other materials that need to communicate Tesla’s visual identity clearly and creatively.
• Work on both large, end-to-end campaigns and smaller one-off design pieces.
• Partner with sales, engineers, digital modelers, architects, and other internal specialists when a project calls for cross-disciplinary input.
• Take part in discussions around strategy, timelines, and process as they relate to the brand and design principles.
• Collaborate closely with designers and stakeholders from other teams.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to help deliver physical design outputs.
• Support the fabrication team with prototype development when needed.
• Step in on design tasks outside your main specialty when the work requires it and your skill set allows.

What you should bring

• A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent practical experience.
• A portfolio that demonstrates original thinking, a wide creative range, and a clean, modern, minimalist aesthetic.
• Solid technical understanding of product development as it relates to graphic design, including areas such as printing and web/mobile application development.
• Strong command of Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, along with either Sketch or Figma.
• Additional experience in one or more of the following: 3D modeling and visualization, motion graphics, animation, or illustration.
• Excellent relationship-building skills across functions, plus strong verbal and visual communication abilities.
• Self-driven mindset with the ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects and deliver strong results under tight deadlines.

Compensation and benefits

This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $87,400 to $171,000, plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Final pay may vary based on factors such as location, role-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.
