Job Description

The Assistant Firefighter is tasked with responding to a variety of emergencies, including aircraft and structural fires, medical incidents, and hazardous material situations within the airport's operational area. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of all individuals on the premises by executing firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response: Promptly address aircraft incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material events, and other critical situations occurring on airport grounds.
  • Fire Suppression: Utilize diverse firefighting methods and agents to extinguish fires, and conduct search and rescue operations in challenging environments.
  • Emergency Medical Services: Provide immediate first aid and basic life support until advanced medical teams can take over, and assist in patient transport.
  • Operational Readiness: Conduct daily checks and maintenance on firefighting equipment, vehicles, and personal protective gear, ensuring all supplies are stocked and ready.
  • Training and Drills: Actively participate in regular emergency response simulations, mandatory ICAO training, and fire drills to maintain preparedness.
  • Reporting: Document all incidents, training activities, and shift operations accurately for compliance and record-keeping.
  • Compliance: Strictly follow all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all emergency response actions.

Experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in firefighting, with a preference for prior involvement in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) operations.
