Role overview
Avoca Central Bakery & Kitchen in Bray is hiring a Dispatch Operative to support the final stage of food production and outbound dispatch. Avoca is a long-established Irish retailer with 13 locations nationwide, known for combining heritage, craftsmanship, and a forward-looking approach across its cafes, restaurants, and food markets.
This position focuses on preparing, packing, checking, and loading food products for customer delivery in a chilled environment. The work calls for accuracy, speed, care, and the ability to work well as part of a team while handling manual tasks.
Key duties
- Collect customer orders with accuracy and prepare finished products for transport according to production timelines.
- Load and unload delivery crates safely, label them correctly, and make sure they are arranged to the required quality standard.
- Check products before dispatch to ensure only correct, undamaged goods leave the site.
- Maintain compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, and Health & Safety rules, while keeping the dispatch area clean and orderly.
- Follow hygiene procedures and wear required PPE, including items such as hairnets, beard snoods, gloves, coats, safety shoes, jackets, and hats.
- Complete paperwork such as delivery dockets and stock-check records to support stock movement and traceability.
- Apply stock rotation and FIFO practices so perishables are sent out before expiry.
- Move packed goods into shelves, racks, crates, or storage areas as needed.
What the role involves
The job is highly hands-on and operational, with a strong focus on dispatching food accurately and efficiently. It requires concentration, manual dexterity, and the ability to perform repetitive lifting tasks in chilled or cold conditions.
Requirements
- Good numeracy and literacy for order checking, stock rotation, and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Comfortable working closely with others and reporting issues to a supervisor.
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent in attendance.
- No previous experience is required; training will be provided on the job.
- Ability to carry out repetitive manual lifting in cold/chilled environments.
- Availability for a late evening shift from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday to Saturday.

The position is based onsite in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland.
Work is scheduled as a full-time role.
