Role Overview

This full-time Driving Instructor position is based in Tweed Heads, NSW, with a hybrid setup that allows certain administrative duties and lesson planning tasks to be completed from home. The role centers on delivering one-on-one and small-group driver training, covering safe driving habits, road rules, vehicle handling, and hazard awareness. The instructor will also help learners prepare for driving tests, keep training documentation accurate, communicate progress clearly, and ensure each vehicle remains safe, tidy, and compliant. Where relevant, the role may also involve speaking with learners’ families or employers and contributing to learning materials or digital resources.

Key Duties

• Conduct individual and small-group driving lessons tailored to each student’s level and learning style.
• Teach road rules, defensive driving, vehicle control, and hazard perception in a clear and practical way.
• Plan lesson routes and structure sessions to support steady learner progress.
• Review student performance, give helpful feedback, and track development accurately.
• Prepare learners for driving assessments and tests.
• Encourage safe driving habits and reinforce road safety best practices.
• Maintain training records and support lesson administration as needed.
• Keep training vehicles safe, clean, and compliant with required standards.
• Communicate professionally with learners and, when appropriate, their families or employers.
• Assist with training content or online learning resources where required.

Candidate Profile

• Solid experience in driver instruction and the ability to explain driving concepts in a simple, adaptable way.
• Strong understanding of road safety, current road rules, and defensive driving methods.
• Truck driving experience and heavy vehicle training capability are highly valued for applicants supporting commercial or truck licence pathways.
• Relevant instructor accreditation, or the ability to obtain it, plus a valid unrestricted driver’s licence suitable for the training vehicles.
• Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills for working with learners from varied backgrounds.
• Good organisation, reliability, and the ability to work independently within a structured program.
• A clean driving history, a strong safety mindset, and readiness to complete background screening if required.
