Financial Software Engineer

Role overview

This is a remote contract opportunity for a Financial Software Engineer working on a large-scale financial platform. The position involves building and supporting systems that power real-time financial operations, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, compliance, and low-latency performance.

What you will do

• Build, enhance, and ship microservices used for financial transaction processing.
• Tune system performance so it can manage high-volume, fast-moving data with minimal delay.
• Put in place security controls and compliance validations for handling financial information.
• Work closely with teams across functions to connect payment gateways and APIs.
• Keep an eye on production systems, investigate incidents, and resolve issues in a round-the-clock environment.

Skills and qualifications

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with financial systems engineering and backend development. Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, and fault tolerance is important, along with familiarity with RESTful APIs or gRPC. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus infrastructure-as-code tooling, will be valuable. Knowledge of financial messaging or payment standards such as ISO 20022, SWIFT, or real-time payment rails is also expected.
