Role overview
This position is for an experienced Interpreter Manager who can guide a language services team, coordinate interpreter coverage, uphold quality standards, and strengthen cross-cultural communication across the business. The role is suited to someone who is organized, collaborative, and confident leading interpretation operations at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and support a team of interpreters and language professionals.
- Organize interpretation support for meetings, conferences, and day-to-day business communication.
- Match interpreters to assignments based on language pair, expertise, and project needs.
- Maintain high standards for accuracy, consistency, and cultural sensitivity in interpreted communication.
- Create and update interpretation guidelines, service standards, and quality checks.
- Work with internal stakeholders and clients to clarify language service requirements.
- Plan schedules, balance workloads, and review the performance of interpretation staff.
- Lead training and skill-development efforts for interpreters.
- Manage multilingual communication projects and ensure they are delivered on time.
- Track service quality and introduce improvements where needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Interpretation, Communications, Languages, or a similar discipline is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in interpretation, translation, multilingual services, or language operations.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory, lead, or management role is preferred.
- Ability to communicate in two or more languages; additional languages are beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of interpretation formats such as simultaneous, consecutive, and remote interpretation.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Background in managing language service teams or multilingual projects.
- High cultural awareness and a strong focus on linguistic precision.
- Comfort working across multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to work effectively without close supervision in a remote setting.
