직무 설명
Role overview
The position involves creating, modeling, and documenting mechanical parts and automated equipment in SolidWorks. The work supports the development of automation machines, special-purpose systems, and material-handling solutions for industrial customers.
Key responsibilities
Design and development
- Create 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for machine parts, assemblies, conveyors, fixtures, and automation systems using SolidWorks and allied tools.
- Develop mechanical automation concepts such as servo-driven mechanisms, pick-and-place units, feeders, and robotic cells by working closely with electrical and controls engineers.
Engineering and validation
- Design solutions that can be produced efficiently, remain cost-conscious, and are easy to maintain, while accounting for tolerance build-up, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and standard parts.
- Carry out basic engineering checks such as force, torque, speed, and power calculations, and use simple FEA validation when needed.
Cross-functional coordination
- Work with production, service, and project teams to support assembly, troubleshooting, and on-site modifications for automation equipment.
Documentation and control
- Prepare and manage design records, BOMs, and revision tracking in SolidWorks PDM or a similar system.
Site support
- Travel to client locations or factory sites whenever required for surveys, installation support, and change implementation.
Experience and skill expectations
The role typically calls for 3 to 5 years of mechanical design experience, ideally in automation, special-purpose machines, material handling, or packaging machinery. Strong command of SolidWorks is important, including assemblies, sheet metal, weldments, configurations, and drawings, along with working knowledge of GD&T. The candidate should also understand mechanical drives, pneumatics, linear motion components, actuators, sensors, and basic motorized systems. Familiarity with machine safety, ergonomics, and industrial assembly practices is also expected. The ability to turn client inputs and sketches into detailed CAD designs and communicate effectively with internal teams and vendors is essential. A BE/B.Tech background in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering is generally preferred.
Preferred profile
- Exposure to FEA or CFD tools, including SolidWorks Simulation or Flow Simulation, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of PLM/PDM systems, AutoCAD, or other CAD platforms is desirable.
- Experience in packaging, automotive, consumer goods, or industrial automation projects is helpful.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and client coordination is valued.
Additional information
This opportunity is based in Chennai, India. The compensation is listed at INR 4,50,000 to INR 8,00,000 per year.
