Role overview
The MEP Project Engineer will be based on site and take ownership of the coordination and execution of wet-utility infrastructure works. This includes the installation, testing, and commissioning of water, sewerage, storm-water, and irrigation networks in line with approved drawings and authority requirements. The role involves close coordination with consultants, subcontractors, and relevant authorities to keep the project on track, while maintaining quality, safety, and schedule performance. The position reports to the Project Manager and contributes to successful project handover.
Reporting structure and working relationships
This role works closely with the Project Operation Team, Engineering teams, and other internal support departments, as well as external stakeholders such as clients, agencies, authorities, suppliers, transporters, and subcontractors. The position reports to the Project Manager and/or Project Management Office.
Role details
- Senior-level position in the EPC, construction, and infrastructure sector.

Technical responsibilities
- Lead and oversee site execution of mechanical works for water infrastructure projects, including pump stations, lift stations, transmission pipelines, reservoirs, and related networks.
- Supervise the installation of pumps, piping, valves, fittings, mechanical equipment, and electromechanical interfaces.
- Coordinate mechanical installation activities to support proper testing, commissioning, and final handover.
- Check IFC drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals related to mechanical and wet-utility scopes.
- Make sure all work follows project specifications, approved design documents, international standards, and authority rules.
- Witness and monitor mechanical testing activities such as hydrostatic and pressure tests, leakage tests, flushing and chlorination, and pump/equipment performance tests.
- Work with electrical and ICA/SCADA teams to ensure systems are integrated correctly.
- Track delivery, storage, and installation of materials to ensure approved items are used efficiently and without waste.
- Contribute to as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and mechanical handover packages.
Site coordination and management duties
- Plan and coordinate day-to-day site work with subcontractors, supervisors, and foremen.
- Communicate with consultants, client representatives, authorities, and subcontractors to solve technical and mechanical issues.
- Compare actual progress against the approved baseline schedule and escalate delays, risks, and corrective actions to the Project Manager.
- Raise RFIs, technical queries, and site instructions, and suggest workable engineering solutions.
- Maintain strong compliance with HSE requirements, quality standards, and project procedures.
- Carry out regular site inspections and keep accurate records and documentation.
- Coordinate with survey teams to confirm alignments, elevations, and as-built data for pipelines and mechanical installations.
- Support tie-ins, diversions, shutdowns, and commissioning activities in coordination with all stakeholders.
- Coordinate with civil, road, electrical, and telecom teams to prevent clashes and avoid delays.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress updates covering manpower, equipment, and productivity.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification. The role calls for 7 to 12 years of experience in project execution or management, including at least 3 years in a similar position, preferably with a leading infrastructure company. A PMP or similar project management certification is required, along with strong working knowledge of Primavera Project Management. Candidates must understand the full cycle of project and construction management for complex infrastructure jobs and demonstrate excellent problem-solving, analytical, and business intelligence capabilities. Strong written and spoken English is essential, and Arabic proficiency is also required. The employer considers experience with ERP D365, an MBA, and exposure to multicultural work environments as advantages.
