Network Specialist

Role overview

This position is responsible for keeping the organization’s network environment secure, stable, and high performing across the head office and branch network locations.

Network operations and support

• Administer routers, switches, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers, and access points.
• Configure and support routing and switching protocols, along with site-to-site VPN connectivity.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve routing-related issues.
• Track device licences and keep configuration records up to date.
• Support firmware upgrades when they are needed or recommended by the vendor.
• Coordinate with external support teams and service providers to resolve technical issues.
• Communicate with the internet service provider and implement required connectivity changes.

Security administration

• Maintain firewall configurations and ensure network security controls remain effective.
• Create and manage content-filtering rules to block inappropriate web categories in line with internal internet-use policies.
• Validate the accuracy and integrity of policies, allowlists, blocklists, and other custom settings.
• Implement and maintain external and internal security configurations.
• Produce network security reports and support vulnerability scanning and security assessments.
• Respond to network security incidents and breaches as part of incident-response activities.
• Ensure all in-scope network and security devices are protected from misuse, unauthorized access, and communication loss.

Azure networking

• Manage Azure virtual networks, subnets, network security groups, application gateways, Azure Bastion, Network Watcher, and DDoS protection.

Governance and change management

• Document procedures that align with client requirements and internal policies.
• Support a continuous-improvement approach to strengthen administration and support service delivery.
• Raise, process, and execute change requests.
• Apply software, IOS, patches, and updates after customer approval for network and security devices.

Additional requirements

• Subject matter expert-level experience is required.
• Cisco CCNP certification is mandatory.
• Cisco CCIE certification is mandatory.
• Core expertise should include NGFW, WAF, Azure Virtual Networks, and site-to-site VPN connectivity.
• Responsibilities also include networking administration and support, security administration and support, and voice and collaboration managed services.
