Product Engineer

Role Overview

This position is for a Product Engineer based in Umm al-Quwain, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on taking products from concept through development and testing, while balancing project requirements, manufacturability, cost, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and develop new products so they align with the project charter, including cost targets, material choices, manufacturing considerations, and other defined objectives.
• Work closely with the product engineering and product application teams to assess whether projects are technically feasible.
• Prepare detailed project plans with the product engineering, laboratory, and product application teams to coordinate the full product development cycle.
• Create product designs, including dimension calculations, 3D and 2D drawings, and bill of materials documentation.
• Coordinate with external agencies such as AMCA, UL, and Intertek as required.
• Monitor the research, engineering, fabrication, testing, and secure storage of prototypes.
• Investigate and resolve issues that arise during production and product testing.
• Prepare weekly updates that summarize progress on product development work.
• Review and refresh the project schedule on a monthly basis.
• Take on additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in a design or manufacturing environment is needed.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal design and related manufacturing methods is essential.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are required.
• The ideal candidate should show initiative, a pleasant personality, and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
• A problem-solving mindset and the ability to offer practical solutions are important.
• Interest in sales support functions and related roles is expected.
• Hands-on knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office is mandatory.
