Role overview
As Regional Manager, you will lead several branch locations across an assigned region and make sure each one is meeting or surpassing its targets for revenue, profitability, and staffing. The role involves keeping day-to-day operations aligned with company standards and all applicable laws, while also helping shape annual goals, build plans to achieve them, and report progress to leadership on a regular basis. You will also be expected to create a positive, motivating workplace and maintain strong knowledge of product lines and vendor relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and monitor the operational performance of multiple fluid power branches within a defined region.
- Improve revenue and profit results across the region.
- Spot additional income opportunities by sharing successful practices across branches and other regions.
- Find ways to grow business with existing customers through new products and services.
- Review and pursue acquisition opportunities that fit the current business landscape.
- Support sales growth through outside and customer service teams, including regular customer visits and practical sales action plans.
- Keep expenses under control.
- Work on employee development initiatives.
- Partner with Branch Managers to hire capable sales, service, mechanical, and administrative staff.
- Encourage training, coaching, and development so employees are prepared for greater responsibility.
- Ensure performance reviews and employee records are handled in a timely and effective manner.
- Take part in branch-level HR matters when needed.
- Oversee regional policies and initiatives related to distribution and repair, and evaluate systems and processes for improvement with the required approvals.
- Apply and enforce company practices, policies, and procedures consistently.
- Use strong experience and judgment to manage priorities such as revenue, BOP, staffing, inventory, shrink control, new business, receivables, ISO compliance, and safety.
- Support senior leadership directives, including business strategy development, monthly regional reporting, vendor/distributor program rollout, and future budget planning.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred; a high school diploma or GED combined with relevant experience is also acceptable.
- At least 10 years of experience in fluid power or industrial distribution is required.
- Proven leadership experience is necessary.
- Fluid power certification is an advantage, though not mandatory if you have strong enough experience.
