Position Overview
The Board of Education, School District No. 50 (Haida Gwaii), is hiring a regular bus driver for Route 1 between Sandspit and Alliford Bay. This role begins on March 11, 2026 and is responsible for safely operating school buses that transport students within the district, while also keeping the buses clean and orderly.
The driver reports to the Manager of Operations and may also receive directions from principals and individual teachers as part of daily duties.
Work Schedule and Pay
Pay for this position is $31.31 per hour. The schedule is a split shift totaling 3.5 hours per day, five days each week.
The selected candidate must be available for a two-day training and orientation session. The exact dates will be confirmed later.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 10
- Valid British Columbia Class 4 driver's licence
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Strong ability to communicate and work effectively with students
- Comfort using established procedures and applying standard methods as needed
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the job
- Neat personal presentation while on duty
- Current WCB Level I First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it
- Willingness to complete any additional training required by the Manager of Operations
