Role Overview
The Associate Designer contributes to seasonal design direction by helping shape concepts, color stories, and quarterly assortment boards. This position owns assigned product development work from the early concept stage through sample approval, working closely with merchandising, sourcing, and technical design partners to deliver fresh, brand-aligned products on schedule.
The role requires strong coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to keep projects moving across multiple seasons while meeting key development deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with merchandising, sourcing, and technical design teams to create new products, including detailed product specifications and technical flat sketches for tech packs.
- Build and update quarterly assortment boards accurately and on time.
- Handle multiple seasons simultaneously at different stages of development while staying aligned with critical calendar milestones.
- Support the creation of seasonal concept presentations, fashion stories, color direction, and print presentations using trend analysis and market research.
- Adjust and recolor prints as needed to align with seasonal themes and design direction.
- Assist with fabric and sourcing development by maintaining new fabric development charts and reviewing strike-offs, samples, and related documentation.
- Track product development progress, including sample reviews, approvals, and status updates.
- Keep product and development records current in PLM systems.
- Prepare rendered flat sketches for presentations and assortment boards.
- Take part in fittings and sample reviews to help maintain design intent, product quality, and fit.
- Use AI-based tools to support print development, silhouette exploration, and design efficiency.
- Stay informed about market trends and the needs of the plus-size customer, while contributing new product ideas.
- Join assortment meetings, design reviews, fittings, and other meetings that support the design and development workflow.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in apparel design with exposure to product development.
- Working knowledge of apparel construction, fabrics, sourcing, and product development workflows.
- Ability to create commercially viable color and print direction that fits the brand.
- Hands-on proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, AI tools, Keynote, Microsoft Office, and PLM platforms.
- Strong organization, communication, and time management abilities.
- A detail-focused approach with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
