Role overview
J.P. Morgan Chase is hiring an Associate for its Quantitative Trading & Research team in Singapore. This front-office, cross-asset group operates on the trading floor and focuses on algorithmic order execution across macro markets. The position sits within one of the firm’s largest electronic trading businesses and is geared toward building trading and execution solutions that support client needs, revenue growth, and business expansion.
In this role, you will contribute to the design of trading strategies, explore micro-patterns and market trends, create tools and applications, and help keep daily trading operations running smoothly. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and centered on solving complex execution and research problems.
Key responsibilities
- Create and deploy algorithmic order solutions used to execute trades on clients’ behalf.
- Develop, evaluate, and back-test trading strategies, models, and signals.
- Partner with technology teams to build scalable, low-latency systems that match business requirements.
- Use statistical methods to assess execution performance and continuously refine trading approaches.
- Build real-time and after-trade transaction cost analysis tools to improve execution quality.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a comparable discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience.
- Strong coding ability in Java, C++, or another object-oriented programming language.
- Comfort with thoughtful system design and precise implementation.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills for regular interaction with clients and teams across Voice Trading, Sales, Product, Research, and Technology.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, adaptable, and willing to learn quickly.
Preferred profile
- Exposure to statistics and/or machine learning.
- Interest in quantitative systematic trading across multiple asset classes.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively when tackling problems or identifying opportunities.
- Prior exposure to commodities and/or rates markets, or familiarity with trading concepts and terminology, would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
