Care Coordinator Auth Scheduling Specialist

About the Role

This remote position focuses on coordinating patient care by managing referrals, obtaining necessary authorizations, and scheduling appointments. The Care Coordinator Auth Scheduling Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring patients are directed to appropriate providers within their insurance plans and will educate them on their coverage. The role involves working closely with referring and receiving practices, as well as ancillary departments, to facilitate seamless patient journeys and prevent gaps in care. The specialist will also be responsible for reviewing and confirming the accuracy of schedules and ensuring appropriate time allocation for procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient referrals, coordinating with both referring and receiving practices and departments.
• Secure all required authorizations for patient services.
• Guide patients to healthcare providers who are within their insurance network.
• Explain insurance benefits and coverage details to patients.
• Schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, and other services across various departments.
• Verify the accuracy of patient schedules and ensure adequate time is allocated.
• Follow up on all referrals to prevent any interruptions in patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in computer use.
• A strong understanding of insurance coverage, including FSC/Coverage/Plan types, and Medical Necessity policies is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical records software is preferred.
• Previous customer service experience is mandatory.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to bend and lift up to 10 lbs.

Eligibility
