Role overview
ClearPoint is seeking a mid-level full-stack data engineer for a 12-month fixed-term engagement within a key client setting. This is an active delivery role, not a passive support position. You will own end-to-end delivery across data domains, work inside an established platform, and contribute in a fast-paced, visible environment.
You will be closely embedded with the client’s internal team, expected to work transparently and to deliver against defined patterns with consistency and care.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of end-to-end delivery for 2 to 3 defined data domains across the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Reporting layers of the medallion model.
- Create, expand, and support ETL/ELT pipelines using Fivetran and dbt, following agreed specifications and established ways of working.
- Operate within a Terraform-based framework for schema change deployment, making confident adjustments and escalating when needed.
- Bring REST and SaaS APIs into the Bronze layer by following existing documentation and implementation patterns within the current CI/CD process.
- Work closely with the team through daily stand-ups, pull request reviews, and regular syncs, while keeping communication clear and timely around progress and blockers.
Required experience and skills
- Practical working knowledge of Snowflake and a sound understanding of medallion or lakehouse architecture.
- Advanced SQL capability.
- Strong understanding of star and snowflake schemas, plus how medallion layering works.
- Hands-on experience with Fivetran and dbt, including building pipelines from specifications and extending existing models.
- Comfort using Git and CI/CD pipelines within established workflows.
- A collaborative, delivery-focused mindset with comfort in ambiguity and high-visibility work.
- Ability to execute within existing frameworks rather than trying to redesign them.
Nice to have
- Python scripting skills for reading or lightly adjusting existing scripts and simple pipelines.
- Basic familiarity with modern BI tools and creating polished Gold-layer outputs for presentation use.
What’s on offer
- Interesting, complex work that provides technical challenge and meaningful impact.
- Competitive pay, health insurance, a subsidised gym, barista coffee, wellness workshops, and other benefits.
- Flexible and remote working, with trust placed in you to deliver from where you work best.
- An annual training budget plus access to learning resources from AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Salesforce.
- BYOD and phone allowances, along with access to the technology needed to do strong work.
- An award-winning workplace, including recognition as AWS Social Impact Partner of the Year and a CIO 50 Award recipient.
Additional information
This role is based in Auckland and described as hybrid, with flexible/remote working available. It is a fixed-term position for 12 months.
Applicants should be eligible to work in New Zealand. ClearPoint is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive hiring environment.
The company may use AI tools during parts of the hiring process to assist with application review, resume analysis, or response assessment, but final hiring decisions are made by people.
