Role Overview

The Department Manager will oversee a designated store department, specifically Fashion and Supermarket. The position focuses on driving sales, maintaining service quality, managing stock, and ensuring the team performs effectively. This role calls for a confident leader with strong communication skills and practical retail experience.

Sales and Customer Service

• Lead the department toward sales targets and key performance indicators.
• Keep customer experience standards high and handle complaints or issues quickly.
• Coach team members on upselling, cross-selling, and clear customer interaction.

Team Leadership

• Oversee, develop, and encourage the team to deliver strong results.
• Create shift schedules and allocate tasks according to business requirements.
• Review employee performance and provide ongoing feedback.

Merchandising and Inventory Control

• Ensure visual merchandising matches company standards.
• Track stock movement, arrange replenishment, and reduce shrinkage.
• Carry out inventory checks and share reports regularly.

Store Operations

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness in the department.
• Support store promotions and in-store merchandising activities.
• Follow safety procedures and loss-prevention practices.

Reporting and Coordination

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales and KPI reports.
• Study sales patterns and recommend improvements.
• Work with Store Managers and Area Managers to align department objectives.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Business, Retail Management, or a related area. The role typically requires 3 to 10 years of experience in retail, ideally in an Assistant Department Manager or Department Manager capacity. Experience in high-volume Fashion or Supermarket formats is preferred, along with familiarity with POS systems, retail reporting, merchandising, customer service, and inventory processes. The company is looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
