About Toorak College

About the Early Learning Centre
The Early Learning Centre offers Kindergarten and Pre-Prep programs for children aged three to five, delivered across three to five days. Its tailored program draws on the Reggio Emilia approach and is designed to nurture each child’s sense of capability, curiosity, and early love of learning.
The ELC experience is enriched by specialist sessions in Creative Arts, STEM, Health and Wellbeing, Language and Cultural Appreciation, and Performing Arts. The centre has been awarded an Exceeding rating in all seven quality areas under the National Quality Standard Assessment.
Reporting to the Head of ELC and the Head of Wardle House & Deputy Principal, successful candidates will join a high-performing team in a beautiful school environment.
Role Overview
As a casual Early Learning Co-educator, you will support classroom delivery, work closely with children and families, and contribute to a safe, engaging, and well-organised learning setting.
Responsibilities
- Support the teacher in delivering the early learning program.
- Work with children and families to help achieve learning outcomes.
- Observe individual children and small groups, then document learning through observations and reflective practice.
- Take part in professional conversations focused on program quality and ongoing improvement.
- Help keep the ELC spaces, materials, and equipment safe, clean, and ready for learning.
- Follow ELC policies and procedures, including assisting with administrative tasks when needed.
- Maintain a strong focus on the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children.
Requirements
- Proven experience supporting programs in an early learning environment.
- Current Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
- At least a Diploma of Childcare qualification.
- Working knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Understanding of regulations relevant to early childhood education.
- Full working rights in Australia.
