Role summary
The Environmental Coordinator will support environmental compliance and site-level environmental management on projects in the oil and gas sector. The position plays an important part in ensuring project activities align with internal requirements, Saudi Aramco standards, and local environmental obligations.
Key responsibilities
You will oversee environmental controls, inspections, reporting, and coordination with project stakeholders to keep site operations compliant and environmentally responsible.
- Check that Kent KMS, Saudi Aramco environmental standards, and project-specific environmental requirements are followed.
- Carry out routine site inspections and environmental audits.
- Track air quality, noise, soil conditions, and water management practices.
- Spot environmental hazards and put corrective and preventive measures in place.
- Create and apply waste management plans that meet project requirements.
- Make sure waste is properly separated, stored, moved, and disposed of.
- Work with approved waste disposal contractors.
- Keep waste manifests and related records up to date.
- Prepare environmental logs, reports, and documentation.
- Share reports with management and Saudi Aramco representatives when needed.
- Run environmental awareness sessions and toolbox talks.
- Encourage environmentally responsible practices among site teams.
- Ensure workers understand environmental risks and the controls in place.
- Maintain permits, approvals, and compliance files.
- Look into environmental incidents such as spills or contamination events.
- Document incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Confirm that emergency response measures are in place and effective.
- Coordinate with Saudi Aramco environmental inspectors and client representatives.
- Collaborate with HSE teams, construction teams, and subcontractors.
- Assist project management in meeting environmental KPIs.
- Promote conservation of water and energy resources.
- Support environmentally friendly construction methods.
- Monitor progress against sustainability commitments.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in construction or oil and gas.
- Saudi Aramco approval for the Environmental Coordinator role is mandatory.
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.
- Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification.
- Previous experience on Saudi Aramco projects.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations in Saudi Arabia.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification is an added advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of Saudi Aramco environmental standards and compliance expectations.
- Hands-on experience with environmental audits and inspections.
- Strong report writing and documentation abilities.
- Capability to identify environmental risks and apply mitigation measures.
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting teammates when needed.
- Willingness to guide less experienced colleagues and contribute to team development.
- Openness to building relationships across functions and embracing change and continuous learning.
