About the organization
SOS Children’s Villages Albania is a private, non-profit humanitarian organization that is neither political nor religious. It provides long-term care for children and young people who have lost parental care or cannot live with their parents for different reasons. The organization also supports children and families in need through projects designed to strengthen their capacities.
Role summary
The Financier will be responsible for financial administration for the Fundraising Department and the Shkodër Project. The role covers control of income and expenditure, management of compensation schemes including fundraising staff bonuses, and the smooth operation of financial processes. It also ensures compliance with Albanian law and the organization’s internal policies, while supporting management with reporting and financial analysis.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and track the financial performance of fundraising activities.
- Prepare, follow up, and review budgets, including cost and effectiveness analysis of campaigns.
- Administer compensation schemes and bonus arrangements for fundraising staff.
- Work closely with relevant teams on financial planning and decision-making.
- Plan, implement, and monitor the budget for the Shkodër project.
- Manage cash flow, payments, and financial obligations.
- Prepare financial reports and analytical inputs for management.
- Support procurement processes and the administration of resources.
- Maintain the accuracy of accounting records and financial documentation.
- Ensure alignment with organizational policies and applicable legislation.
- Support audits and help strengthen internal controls.
Required background and skills
Candidates should hold a university degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics and have at least 3 years of experience in a Financier role. Strong experience is expected in budgeting, financial reporting, financial analysis, and procurement procedures. Very good knowledge of financial legislation and accounting standards is required, along with experience preparing tax and payroll declarations and managing employee benefits. Experience with bonus and incentive schemes is highly preferred. The role also calls for excellent analytical and organizational abilities, strong financial and computer system knowledge, very good written and spoken communication skills, and a strong command of English. Experience in financial activities related to fundraising or marketing is considered an advantage. High professional integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle confidential financial information are essential.
