Role overview

The HR Advisor will provide dependable, people-centred HR guidance across the full employee lifecycle while also owning the practical delivery of HR operations and projects. The position ensures HR policies, initiatives and programs are not only created thoughtfully but also carried out consistently and effectively across the organisation.

You will partner closely with the HR Manager to progress people initiatives, maintain compliance, support employee relations, improve HR operations and deliver projects from start to finish.

Key responsibilities

  • Advise on employee relations matters and manage cases involving grievances, investigations, disciplinary action and employment terminations.
  • Handle employment contracts, contract changes, probation reviews and exit processes.
  • Support compliance with employment laws, Modern Awards, internal policies and governance obligations.
  • Watch for employment-related risks and help maintain fair and consistent workplace practices.
  • Assist with performance management activities such as goal setting, review cycles, feedback processes and PIP administration.
  • Guide managers on probation management, performance issues and development planning.
  • Support promotion decisions, career pathways and development assessments.
  • Help improve the organisation’s performance framework over time.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, including critical role identification and talent segmentation.
  • Assist with succession planning, HiPo management and development of the talent pipeline.
  • Support retention planning and organisational capability initiatives.
  • Coordinate learning and development activities for leaders, managers and other professionals.
  • Help design the training framework and execute the learning roadmap.
  • Track and assess the effectiveness of training and development outcomes.
  • Improve HR processes and support operational excellence across the function.
  • Keep HR records accurate and maintain data integrity within the HRIS.
  • Prepare HR reports, workforce analytics and productivity insights for decision-making.
  • Support WHS compliance, workplace incident handling and workers’ compensation coordination.
  • Promote wellbeing initiatives such as EAP and safety training.
  • Administer statutory and supplementary benefits programs.
  • Support remuneration, flexible benefits and expatriate-related matters.
  • Ensure benefits compliance and respond to employee questions.
  • Assist with employee engagement programs, surveys and action planning.
  • Contribute to culture-building activities and internal communication efforts.
  • Support Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives and associated programs.
  • Help with recruitment planning and end-to-end hiring activity.
  • Coordinate candidate assessments, offer preparation and onboarding.
  • Manage offboarding processes and support employer branding efforts.

What you need to bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a broad generalist or HR Advisor role with exposure to several HR areas.
  • Practical understanding of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and WHS requirements, with the ability to apply them in real workplace situations.
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities, stay organised and work independently in a changing environment.
  • A proactive, resourceful and solution-oriented mindset, along with a hands-on approach and the ability to deliver under pressure.
  • Confidence working autonomously while still contributing strongly in a collaborative, high-performing HR team.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels, including the ability to influence and advise managers on people matters.
  • Excellent written, verbal and administrative skills, paired with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in a large, established organisation with exposure to multiple HR areas such as employee relations, performance, talent and operations will be viewed favourably.
