About the Role

Shanahan Engineering is seeking a Junior Project Engineer to join their team in Dublin. This role is crucial for achieving project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to delivery, quality, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective implementation of project execution and quality plans, ensuring all associated procedures are followed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Champion safety initiatives and procedures, actively participating in safety improvement programs.
  • Manage technical and contractual correspondence, meticulously compiling records and claim submissions to safeguard the company's interests against clients and subcontractors, and to defend against incoming claims for mechanical works.
  • Oversee the pre-qualification and short-listing process for contractors and consultants.
  • Contribute to bid evaluations and the awarding of contracts.
  • Participate in pre-construction negotiations.
  • Support the planning, preparation, and development of site budgets and accounting processes.
  • Develop and coordinate subcontracting strategies and subcontracts for bids and tenders.
  • Liaise and negotiate with subcontractors on progress, coordination, entitlements, and contract interpretations.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve contract payments and change orders.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients, contractors, and design consultants to resolve design issues and interface challenges.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and meetings to assess project status, provide direction, coordinate activities, and resolve technical problems.
  • Monitor project schedules and supervise construction activities.
  • Implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) requirements as per the field quality program, I&T programs, and I&T plans.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, statutory regulations, and specifications.
  • Verify that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared for all relevant tasks.
  • Ensure Superintendents/Supervisors prepare and submit construction, erection completion documentation, and turnover packages in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports detailing problems, changes, schedule modifications, and performance metrics.
  • Utilize Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and other relevant tools.
  • Ensure effective claim management processes are in place.
  • Manage Q-documents, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments.
  • Maintain open item lists and punch lists.
  • Facilitate training and development for all discipline personnel.
  • Incorporate lessons learned for future project improvements.
  • Integrate safety functions into all work aspects.
  • Manage subcontractor and direct labor administration on-site.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior project team members to ensure project advancement.
  • Coordinate Instrumentation & Control (I&C) works to prevent conflicts, minimize delays, and ensure efficient, cost-effective, and safe project completion.
  • Manage budgets, negotiate claims, and oversee settlements.
  • Identify program requirements and plan facilities in collaboration with the construction team.
  • Develop, monitor, and update project schedules.
  • Coordinate the development of System Turnover Packages.
