What you will do

• Design and assess analytical and simulation-based models for communication networks, especially for IoT-focused extensions of future internet protocols.
• Develop practical protocol implementations that can be used in agricultural research settings.
• Prepare models and results in a reproducible way to support open research practices.
• Contribute to teaching through practical laboratory sessions related to communication networks.
• Assist with supervising bachelor’s and master’s students on network modeling and experimental work.

Profile and requirements

A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communication Networks, or a closely related discipline is required. Strong hands-on experience in networking, simulation, and modeling is expected.

Useful background includes knowledge of future internet architectures applied to the Internet of Things, such as information-centric networking. Experience with open-source or reproducible simulation environments like OMNeT++ is desirable. You should also be able to create simulation models with tools such as OMNeT++ and translate research ideas into real implementations of future internet protocols for IoT use cases. Experience guiding students through project or thesis work is an advantage.
