Lecturer, Biomedical Engineering

Role overview

This is a two-year contract opportunity for a Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at the School of Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to curriculum development, facilitate learning activities, assess students, and handle module-related duties for Biomedical Engineering subjects.
• Identify fresh partnership possibilities and help build collaborations with industry.
• Carry out administrative work connected to course administration and coordination.
• Participate in consultancy assignments to maintain current professional relevance.
• Lead or assist applied research and development initiatives with healthcare organisations and industry collaborators, especially in assistive and rehabilitation technologies, wearable health monitoring systems, diagnostic tools, AI and healthcare data analytics, and 3D printing or rapid prototyping for medical uses.
• Create working prototypes and demonstration models for teaching, research, and clinical evaluation.
• Support learners’ development within the educational setting.

Candidate profile

• A relevant Biomedical Engineering qualification is required, along with at least 3 years of industry experience in engineering design and development and/or manufacturing of medical technologies, including biomedical devices.
• Experience in assistive or rehabilitation technologies and/or wearable monitoring devices will be an added advantage.
• A genuine interest in education, with the ability to guide, teach, mentor, and engage students effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, together with sound interpersonal abilities.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable contributing as part of a team.
