Overview
Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and driven Band 7 Neurodevelopmental Practitioner to join its newly formed Neurodevelopmental Diagnostic Team in Cambridgeshire. The post sits within a multidisciplinary service working alongside Community Paediatricians, Specialist Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, and other professionals to assess and support children with neurodevelopmental needs.
This opportunity involves taking a lead role in diagnostic work, helping shape service delivery, and working closely with families and partner professionals to improve outcomes for children and young people.
Key duties
- Take part in ASD and ADHD diagnostic pathways.
- Carry out and lead neurodevelopmental assessments and observations, including ADOS.
- Collect and review information from families, schools, and other professionals.
- Provide supportive, clear feedback to families after multidisciplinary assessments.
- Use specialist knowledge to support differential diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Oversee a specialist caseload and produce detailed, high-quality reports.
- Work with MDT colleagues to maintain efficient and effective care pathways.
- Contribute to service improvement, audit activity, quality improvement work, and waiting list management initiatives.
- Support the wider neurodevelopmental pathway and support offer across Cambridgeshire.
Team and service context
You will be part of an established multidisciplinary team providing assessment and pathway support for children with neurodevelopmental conditions. The role includes working in partnership with clinicians and community services to ensure the pathway remains effective, inclusive, and connected to wider support options.
The position also includes helping to develop and review care pathways, policies, service outcome audits, and approaches to manage waiting lists in line with agreed targets.
