What This Opportunity Involves

Contributors will be tasked with designing original computational physics problems that simulate real physics research workflows. This includes creating problems that require Python programming (utilizing libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy) to solve, ensuring they are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within a reasonable timeframe. The role involves developing problems that demand complex reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics, often based on real research challenges or practical applications. Solutions will need to be verified using Python with standard physics simulation libraries, and problem statements must be documented clearly with verified correct answers.

What We Look For

This freelance role is ideal for quantum researchers with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. Key qualifications include a degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or a related field, proficiency in Python for numerical validation (or equivalent experience in MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or other programming languages), and at least 2 years of professional experience in applied, research, or teaching capacities. Candidates should possess experience with numerical simulation methods, the ability to design problems mirroring real physics research workflows, creative thinking across diverse physics areas, familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques, and strong written English skills (C1+).

How It Works

The process involves applying, passing qualifications, joining a project, completing tasks, and receiving payment.

Project Time Expectations

Active project phases are estimated to require approximately 10-20 hours per week, depending on specific project demands. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload, applicable only during active project periods.

Compensation

Contributors can earn up to the equivalent of $35 per hour, with the actual rate dependent on individual expertise and contribution pace. Compensation levels may vary across different projects based on their scope, complexity, and required skills.
