Role overview
This part-time remote position is for an IT technician who can deliver dependable technical assistance, resolve technology issues, and help keep digital systems running smoothly. The role focuses on supporting users, maintaining system performance, and improving the stability and usability of the organization’s technology environment while working remotely.
Core duties
- Provide remote help with technical issues and user support requests.
- Investigate and resolve problems related to operating systems, software, hardware, and everyday IT tools.
- Set up user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Install, configure, and update applications and related software.
- Monitor system health and performance, and take action when issues arise.
- Record support cases, resolutions, and other service details clearly and accurately.
- Assist with network connectivity concerns and remote access tools when needed.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks and help keep asset records updated.
- Support basic cybersecurity practices and contribute to safer IT operations.
- Look for ways to improve support processes, efficiency, and the overall user experience.
Technical and professional expectations
The right candidate should have a strong grasp of operating systems, networking basics, cloud-based tools, remote support software, and general IT infrastructure concepts. Experience with endpoint management, software deployment, system administration, service desk workflows, and structured troubleshooting will be an advantage. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to identify root causes are important for success in this role.
Applicants should also bring professionalism, patience, adaptability, and clear communication skills. Since this is a remote support role, both written and verbal communication must be effective enough to assist users with different levels of technical knowledge. A self-directed work style, accountability, and consistent productivity are highly valued.
Preferred background
Training or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Administration, Technical Support, or a related discipline is preferred. Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote management platforms, cybersecurity principles, technical documentation, or infrastructure monitoring tools will also be useful.
