Role overview
As a Sales & Retention Manager at Everlast Gyms, you will be accountable for increasing membership numbers, improving member retention, and keeping the club’s active member base growing. Reporting to the General Manager, this is a full-time leadership position in which you will steer sales activity, support the broader team, and make sure every member experiences a smooth journey from their first visit onwards. You will act as the club’s standard-bearer for sales performance, set the pace through your own example, apply effective strategies, and strengthen relationships both within the gym and in the local community.
Key responsibilities
You will lead and coach the team on the FUNDAMENTALS sales approach so they can perform consistently at a high level.
Your focus will include bringing in new members while also improving retention among existing members to support growth in the live member base.
You will manage the club’s activity planner, making sure campaigns and initiatives are organised, delivered effectively, and have a strong impact.
You will design and implement imaginative lead-generation activity, both inside the club and through external outreach.
You will track dashboards and KPIs, share meaningful insights with the team, and help keep performance aligned to targets.
Revenue growth across memberships, products, and secondary spending will be part of your remit, with the aim of improving overall profitability.
You will prepare and present monthly sales updates to the wider management group.
A key part of the role is developing local business relationships and creating opportunities through #WeMoveBusinesses.
You will remain visible and hands-on on reception and the gym floor, leading in a member-facing capacity.
You will also contribute to national campaigns such as #WorkoutWednesday and #WeCommunicate.
Part of your leadership will involve giving clear, constructive feedback that helps colleagues improve their performance and professional development.
In addition, you will support the General Manager with operational duties covering health and safety, facilities, maintenance, recruitment, and club presentation standards.
About you
You should be enthusiastic about health, fitness, and wellbeing.
The role suits someone with proven leadership ability who can motivate, coach, and influence a team.
A strong commercial focus is important, along with a genuine drive to improve sales and retention results.
You need excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to adjust your approach for different audiences.
You should bring a positive, practical mindset and be able to stay resilient when under pressure.
Ambition and a desire to grow further into leadership responsibilities are also important.
You must be available to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays according to business needs.
