Role overview
A design-led construction products business is looking for a Technical Design Coordinator to expand its in-house design capability. This position is practical and project-driven, combining CAD-based technical design with end-to-end ownership of live jobs and regular contact with customers, architects, contractors, and internal teams.
The role covers work from order receipt through to final completion, with a focus on creating accurate, buildable designs that meet project needs. It is best suited to someone who enjoys balancing technical drawing work with coordination, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving.
Location and working pattern
Clerkenwell, London. This is a hybrid position with 3 days per week in the studio. The working week is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with flexible start and finish times between 7am/8am and 4pm/5pm.
Salary and benefits
- £35,000 to £40,000 per year, depending on experience and open to negotiation

Key responsibilities
- Create and check general arrangement drawings, layouts, and technical documents
- Run projects from order stage through to final completion
- Communicate with customers, architects, contractors, and colleagues to keep work moving
- Handle several projects at once while maintaining consistent progress
- Own timelines, remove blockers, and push projects toward delivery
- Manage outside design support and verify their outputs
- Oversee design revisions, approvals, and formal sign-off
- Assist installation teams with technical questions
- Partner with operations to make sure designs are practical and suitable for manufacture
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technical design, design coordination, or a closely related role within construction or manufacturing
- Strong CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks or Autodesk software
- Background working on construction-focused or product-based projects
- Clear and confident communication style for direct work with clients and stakeholders
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple live projects
- Proactive approach with ownership, initiative, and strong problem-solving ability
Preferred experience
- Exposure to architectural metalwork, balustrades, façades, or similar systems
- Knowledge of design for manufacture
- Experience working with architects, developers, or contractors
