The opportunity
In this role, you will shape, deploy, and manage the security technologies that safeguard SCiN’s physical assets and infrastructure. Your work will ensure that security systems, operating processes, and technical architecture stay aligned with Group standards and regulatory obligations. You’ll also need to explain, in practical terms, how each technology reduces risk and contributes to broader business goals.
Key responsibilities
You will take ownership of the planning and cost management for security technology within the SCiN Security Function. The position reports directly to the Project Security Manager and requires close collaboration with team leads across the organisation.
- Ensure that corporate security arrangements and the security centre remain aligned with Group Security Standards.
- Strengthen the credibility and accountability of the SCiN Security Function with the business.
- Act as the lead for all security technology topics, advising internal stakeholders and tracking the external market for benchmarks, improvements, and value-adding solutions or partners.
- Create, maintain, and deliver the SCiN Security Technology Roadmap, including prioritisation, innovation, and execution from idea stage through pilot, onboarding, and enterprise rollout.
- Work with SCiN IDT, Real Estate, Projects, telecoms, and other teams to design, implement, and validate technical security solutions for all locations, including review of engineering and architectural documents.
- Define, update, and improve technical standards, specifications, tools, processes, and policies, including access control, so they remain consistent with design and delivery needs.
- Carry out strategic reviews for critical and high-risk assets, develop improvement plans and business cases, and support implementation as a subject matter expert.
- Make sure high-level security designs are suitable, compliant, and effective; produce HLSDs where required to address security risk mitigation needs.
- Provide technical guidance and operational oversight, including serving as functional lead for Genetec system delivery, leading access control operations, and supporting enterprise project delivery for SCiN Security Leadership.
- Coach and develop security personnel, work with contractors and industry partners on innovative solutions, and drive savings through quotation assessment, value engineering, and contract support.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution is required; a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years in security technology or equipment roles within top-tier technology and consulting firms.
- Professional industrial security certification such as PSP from ASIS, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
- Certification in the use of Genetec interfaces.
- Strong understanding of the Exploration & Production business, its value drivers, and the Nigerian operating environment.
- Proven leadership ability to guide integrated teams, delegate effectively, build team capability through coaching, and encourage performance, innovation, and modern ways of working.
- Ability to think strategically and advise senior leaders on threats and mitigation, while confidently coordinating and challenging stakeholders on security considerations in business proposals.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, presentation, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working under pressure in multicultural, cross-functional teams with a high level of flexibility and accountability.
- Ability to communicate clearly, structure arguments logically, and adapt messaging to different audiences.
- Capability to respond to security incidents and enforce procedures without compromise.
- Experience with SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel is beneficial; HSSE awareness is required, along with the ability to manage costs and support cost reduction.
