Role overview
Nottinghamshire County Council is looking for a Contact Support Worker to help children and families maintain safe, meaningful family contact. In this role, you will support family time for children aged 0-17 by arranging sessions, supervising interactions, keeping clear records, and raising any safeguarding concerns without delay. The position is based within the Children and Families Department, which works using a strengths-based method known as ‘Our Nottinghamshire Approach’.
Pay and contract
The salary for this permanent post is £26,824 to £29,540 per year. A pro rata salary applies where relevant. The role is offered as both full-time and part-time, with working patterns of 37 hours or 18.5 hours per week.
Working location and arrangements
This is an office-based position. There are two vacancies: one full-time post based in the south of the county at Gedling View, Off Church View, Main Road, Gedling, NG4 3HS; and one part-time post based in the north of the county at Harmony House, Unity Close, Worksop. The role may involve working from different venues across the county depending on service needs.
What the job involves
- Plan and oversee family time sessions in a safe and supportive setting.
- Keep accurate case notes and records of contact sessions and alert the team to any safeguarding issues quickly.
- Transport children to and from contact sessions when required, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Adapt to changing service demands and work across multiple locations as needed.
- Attend court occasionally to provide evidence in care proceedings.
What you need
Applicants should hold a full driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle. You will need evidence of GCSE passes at grade C or above in English and maths. A QCF Level 3 qualification in Social Care or Child Care, or an equivalent qualification, is required; applicants who are currently working towards the qualification may also be considered. Previous experience supporting children and families, ideally in a social care environment, is expected. You should also be organised, accurate in your written records, and confident following safeguarding procedures.

The council is seeking someone who shows empathy, compassion, adaptability, and a strong commitment to teamwork. Clear spoken and written communication is important, as the role involves working with families, colleagues, and other professionals while reporting information accurately.
