About the role
carsales is seeking a creative and technically strong Data Analyst with an interest in the automotive sector to support RedBook, a business within carsales. The role sits at the center of work that improves vehicle pricing practices and contributes to a range of current and future RedBook data services, along with ad hoc project and consulting assignments.
The company is focused on helping people buy and sell vehicles in a better way, while continuing to grow, test new ideas, and evolve with the changing market. The working style combines flexibility for remote work with the value of in-person collaboration in a hybrid setup.
What you will do
- Develop a strong understanding of RedBook vehicle data, pricing products, and the wider automotive market so analysis and product decisions are better informed.
- Use internal and external data sources, along with SQL and APIs, to extract, clean, combine, and prepare data for analysis and reporting.
- Apply modern development tools, including AI-assisted workflows, to improve speed and quality of delivery.
- Build and manage dashboards and data products from end to end, starting with requirements and metrics definition through to deployment and iterative improvements for internal teams and customers.
- Create and maintain data pipelines that automate preparation, validation, and delivery of data so outputs are more consistent, accurate, and timely.
What the team is looking for
- Prior experience in automotive, asset finance, or a similar vehicle-related data environment, ideally with exposure to pricing, valuation, or forecasting work.
- Proven ability to deliver dashboards or data products end to end, including problem definition, scoping, development, and polished delivery for external customers or consulting-style work.
- Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools to boost productivity, plus experience with modern development practices such as GitHub.
- Strong SQL capability, ideally with SQL Server or Postgres, and experience using APIs or other external data sources.
- Comfort with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and data preparation.
- Experience with cloud-based workflows for data pipelines, workflow automation, or repeatable data processes.
