About WD

WD is driven by a mission to advance global innovation and expand the limits of technology, turning ambitious ideas into reality. The company is known for solving complex problems with technology and has played a role in historic achievements, from enabling moon missions to helping capture the first image of a black hole.

Its portfolio includes HDDs, technology platforms, and solutions for businesses, creators, and consumers through Western Digital, WD, and WD_BLACK. WD supports major organizations worldwide, including cities, data centers, and hyperscale cloud providers, and plays a role in meeting the rapidly growing storage demands of the AI era.

The organization is looking for someone who can help shape the future of data storage through talent, development, and inclusion leadership across APAC.

Role Overview

As the Director of Talent Development and Inclusion for APAC, you will lead the regional execution of WD's global Talent, Development and Inclusion strategy. The role requires adapting enterprise initiatives so they work effectively across different APAC countries, cultures, and business environments, while strengthening leadership capability, manager effectiveness, employee engagement, and business impact.

You will manage a small team across key APAC locations and work closely with HR and business leaders to deliver development programs that balance global consistency with local relevance. This role suits a leader who can build trust across cultures, influence stakeholders, and turn strategy into practical programs at scale.

Key Responsibilities

The position covers regional leadership, leadership development, inclusion, team management, and measurement-focused execution.

Regional Leadership and Stakeholder Partnership

  • Act as the main TD&I partner for APAC and represent the function across the region as a trusted advisor to senior leaders in both business and HR.
  • Develop strong working relationships with HR and business stakeholders to identify development needs, align priorities, and shape solutions that respect global direction while fitting local requirements.
  • Work with global business outcomes and workforce strategy, including learning partners such as Tech Talent Academy, to strengthen employee capabilities across APAC.
  • Serve as the link between global TD&I strategy and regional implementation, ensuring programs are relevant, high quality, measurable, and tied to outcomes such as faster decision-making, stronger prioritization, and improved bench strength.

Leadership and Employee Development

  • Co-design and deliver global leadership and manager development initiatives across APAC, making sure they are culturally appropriate and help leaders manage inclusively, build high-performing teams, and handle change well.
  • Work with regional leaders and HR to understand local development gaps and implement targeted solutions using internal and external resources where needed.
  • Partner with functional learning teams and outside providers to create integrated development experiences that connect professional and technical capability building.
  • Identify essential future skills, including AI fluency, and roll out learning initiatives that support growth, career movement, and advancement.

Inclusion

  • Roll out WD's global engagement framework across APAC, tailoring it so it is useful and actionable in each local market and cultural setting.
  • Build inclusion into all development programs so that learning reflects different perspectives and helps leaders create inclusive teams.
  • Work with global TD&I colleagues to localize inclusion initiatives and evaluate how well they resonate and perform across APAC markets while staying aligned to global strategy.

Team Leadership and Capacity Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a small group of direct reports, while also guiding dotted-line TD&I colleagues in APAC.
  • Create a team environment based on shared accountability, ongoing learning, and strong execution.
  • Extend the team’s reach by building a regional learning network of internal HR and business professionals, plus external partners who can deliver programs in local language and context.
  • Manage priorities and allocate resources to meet changing demand across the region, using contract learning designers or external partners when additional capacity is needed.

Measurement and Operational Excellence

  • Set up consistent delivery, measurement, and reporting practices across APAC so the team can show the business value of learning investments.
  • Identify and use country-specific government funding opportunities, such as Ministry of Education grants and HR Development Fund programs, to help support content development and delivery costs.
  • Use data to spot learning needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and keep improving the quality and relevance of the learning experience across the region.
  • Use technology such as LMS platforms, authoring tools, and virtual delivery tools to scale effective learning experiences across a distributed region.

Qualifications

This role requires a bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree preferred in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, or a related discipline. Candidates should bring at least 10 years of directly relevant experience in talent development, learning and development, or organizational effectiveness, including 5 or more years in people leadership roles.

Experience working across multiple APAC markets is important, along with a strong understanding of regional culture and how it affects leadership and development approaches. A solid grasp of adult learning principles, experience designing programs in multiple formats, and the ability to measure impact using data are all essential.

The ideal candidate can influence across cultures, functions, and seniority levels without formal authority, manage multiple programs at once, handle competing priorities, and collaborate effectively to diagnose needs and build solutions. Familiarity with LMS platforms, authoring tools, and virtual facilitation technology is also required. English fluency is mandatory, and additional regional language skills are beneficial.
