Financial Controller

Role summary

This position owns the finance function for the port site, covering budgeting, financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury activity, working capital management, receivables oversight, reporting, audit coordination, and compliance with all required statutory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, complete, and secure approval for annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets, then carry out periodic budget reviews.
• Track financial performance each month, quarter, and year across revenue, costs, and profitability; identify gaps and suggest corrective measures.
• Work with internal teams to assess CAPEX proposals and support investment decisions using financial analysis.
• Produce MIS reports accurately and on time, and support review meetings with relevant stakeholders.
• Oversee the drafting and review of financial statements to ensure precision and compliance.
• Analyze expenses and receivables in depth and recommend actions that improve efficiency and strengthen cash flow.
• Plan cash flow and manage decisions on short-term investment placement.
• Follow up on internal audit findings and reinforce internal controls across the function.
• Lead statutory audits end to end and ensure audit observations are closed within timelines.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable statutory obligations, including Service Tax, EPCG commitments, and other regulatory requirements.
• Improve team output through clear communication, coaching, and capability-building efforts.
• Keep pace with developments in finance and technology and introduce better practices into the function.

Experience and background

• At least 8 years of experience in Finance & Accounts.
• Hands-on exposure to finance operations in a large, complex organization.
• Strong command over financial statement preparation, balance sheet closure, and statutory audit processes.
• Prior experience with audits, compliance, and financial controls in a structured environment.
